I am enjoying this so much. I thought we’d be zooming up and down the loch without the distraction of children but unpicking the mechanics of the technique turns out to be way more Zen. Fabulous to stretch a new bit of my brain as well as some muscles.
We never wrote to say thank you to Biscuit for the couple of days we spent on the Tay with him. They were fantastic, perfectly matched to what we needed and great fun. We are now sat in the tent in Alberta, Canada, waiting for a storm to pass so we can get back on the water. We've had 7 great days paddling to start our trip, and thanks to the coaching have never felt out of our depth in the boat and have managed to put a lot of what we learnt into practice already. It made such a difference to our confidence coming out here.
I have spent many days on the River Tay learning to canoe with Biscuit. He coached me with patience and great technical ability both of which dramatically improved my understanding of paddling in moving water providing the foundations upon which I could build confidence and performance in a discipline and environment foreign to a sea kayaker. His infectious enthusiasm carried me through many a cold winter session with both a smile and a great deal of learning. He is simply the best of the best when it comes to coaching.
Escape the job list, get out on the water and feed your soul at the same time as learning and / or improving basic and intermediate canoe skills. Our courses are informal and designed to develop confidence and self-sufficiency. And as it's a Wee Adventure you can expect Glen Lyon Coffee, biscuits and a good blether with like-minded souls.
Canoeing is an amazing way to explore the many Scottish lochs and rivers for an evening, weekend or longer journey. It is also a brilliant way of adventuring as a family - canoes can take more kit than we can carry which opens up a whole new world of canoe camping!
